People living with HIV

People with HIV (PWH) are often concerned about the confidentiality of their condition. Improved treatments for HIV have meant that all PWH are likely to benefit from the commencement of antiretroviral therapy. PWH who are on antiretrovirals and have an undetectable viral load are unlikely to transmit HIV. Prompt identification of people who may have been in contact with HIV, enables testing for HIV. Those that test positive for HIV will benefit from antiretrovirals while those that test negative may benefit from access to Pre-Exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).
